Whiskey Flight Tray With Glencairn Whiskey Glasses - Made From Reclaimed Whiskey Barrel Stave

Glencairn dubbed their whiskey glass as "The Official Whiskey Glass", so why not enjoy a flight of your favorite whiskey, bourbon or scotch in "The Official Whiskey Glass", served on an authentic reclaimed whiskey barrel stave.

We use authentic whiskey barrels staves as well as authentic Glencairn Glasses. Authentic whiskey barrel staves are black on the bottom, because the barrels are burned to a char on the inside. Staves from red wine barrels are red or purple on their bottoms, and white wine staves have a toasted wood look. Authentic Glencairn Glasses will have "The Glencairn Glass" etched on their base. Unfortunately, there are some knockoff Glencairn Glasses and knockoff whiskey barrel staves being sold. Maybe we're a little picky, but we believe fine bourbons and whiskeys should be served on authentic whiskey barrel stave flights and drank from premium glassware.

Our Flights are 15" long. Whiskey barrel staves vary in width, and our flights are between 3" and 4" wide.

Three Non-Leaded Crystal Glencairn Whiskey Glasses are included with the Flight, if you choose the "Glasses Included" option. If you already have a set of Glencairn Glasses, you can choose the "Without Glasses" option, and we will ship you a flight tray without the glasses. Please note that the holes are bored to fit a Glencairn Brand Glass. If you have a brand other than Glencairn, please contact us about fitment, as we can customize the hole to fit other glasses.

Whiskey / Bourbon is aged in oak barrels. Whiskey barrels are a vital part of the whiskey making process; as a matter of fact, many distillers consider barrels to be a part of their recipe. When whiskey is first distilled it is clear and not near as pleasant to drink as whiskey that has been aged in a barrel. Inside the barrel is where a whiskey’s flavor, color and mouth feel are developed. Whiskey gets its vanilla, caramel, coconut and wood flavors from the barrel.
Whiskey in the United States is typically aged in a barrel for 4 to 10 years. After the barrels are dumped, they are still usable, but American Whiskey Distilleries only use a whiskey barrel one time. So, what do the distilleries do with all of their used barrels? The distilleries sell their barrels to the rum, gin, tequila, beer and scotch distilleries.

They also sell a few barrels to Barn Works Designs. At Barn Works Designs, we turn reclaimed barrels into useful items that reflect the rustic charm of Bourbon. We make everything from bottle openers to bar sets. Every piece that we make is a unique one of a kind item, because no two barrels are ever the same.
We got our start making products from reclaimed whiskey barrels, but we don’t limit ourselves to just whiskey barrels. We also build from reclaimed wine barrels. Wine barrels and whiskey barrels are pretty similar. The biggest differences are that most wine barrels are made from French or Hungarian Oak, while whiskey barrels are almost always made from American Oak. A standard wine barrel holds 59 gallons, whereas a standard whiskey barrel holds 53 gallons, so wine barrels are typically a little bigger in diameter.
